During the Japanese occupation (World War 2), many Hindu & Indian families found protection in the vicinity of this temple while some of their menfolk were whisked away to work in the Death Railways of Burma. As such, the blessings & protection of the divine mother was constantly sought in those difficult times. She is looked upon as the family guardian or 'kuladeivam' by many families & the annual thiruvizha or temple festival is an opportunity for these families to come together again & get Goddess Padai Vetri Mariamman's blessings.
Details of the 78th Thiruvizha are attached below. Prayers start from 29th June 2017 until 9th July 2017. Come receive the darshan of Sri Padai Vetri Mariamman. Aum Sakthi.
